ABOUT

Giovanni Gori and Andrea Aldrovandi are a creative and photographic duo working in the world of fashion under the name Gio+And.
From Emilia-Romagna, two different personalities, two different backgrounds, one shared mission. Giovanni, first an entrepreneur, art collector and later a lawyer, began photographing to make a girl jealous. Andrea, a sales agent, approached photography as a way to deviate from the path his family had chosen for him. Both left their respective careers and began working professionally in photography without having the slightest idea of what they were doing. They took their first steps as generalist photographers, working across architecture, still life and fashion. It was while working for a large fashion multinational company in Reggio Emilia that they met. Curious, never fully satisfied and constantly evolving, over time fashion captured them completely, yet the experience gained in other genres remains an essential part of their technical and narrative approach. The result is a vision of photography aimed at telling a story, an emotion, a contradiction, a detail, through a language that is simple, clean and direct, yet never predictable. They love questioning trends, certainties and clichés, and for this reason they refuse to tie themselves exclusively either to location-based photography or, conversely, only to studio work. Every story has its own roots, its own reasons and its own message: visual language must be the consequence, never the premise. While loving every form of creativity, they stand at the opposite end of the spectrum from AI. They believe that the medium itself is the mirror of what it represents. Therefore, the easier it becomes to produce artificial images — the reflection of an increasingly artificial culture — the more essential the authenticity, materiality and craftsmanship of photography become in conveying elegance, fascination and value within high fashion.
